About Barry

Barry earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Frostburg State University.  In 1988, he moved his young family to South Central PA seeking a family-friendly, conservative area in which to raise his children.  Barry has been married over 35 years to his wife Lori, a dentist. Barry has two sons, Joshua and Jared.  Josh, a computer consultant, is married with two young sons while Jared is a whitewater river guide and an avid outdoorsman.

Barry, a competitive gymnast in college, coached the Hanover YMCA Junior Olympic Gymnastics Program for more than 17 years. He coached the girls to their first national title in 2011.  The Hanover YMCA Girls National Championship Team was honored at the PA State House of Representatives for their achievements.

As an independent group health insurance broker for over 27 years, Barry has a keen insight and understanding of the very complicated issue of health insurance.  His expertise will be vital in creating an open and free marketplace that will allow Pennsylvanians to purchase the healthcare they want and need.

Barry is an 8 year member of the Adams County Republican Committee and a precinct captain

Barry is a long time member of the National Rifle Association

Always passionately interested in politics, in 2011, he challenged a seat on the Berwick Township Board of Supervisors and won a highly contested race.  Working with his fellow supervisors, Barry was able to reduce real estate taxes by over 85% and significantly lowered the quarterly sewer rates, all while keeping the township fiscally healthy.
